Those nights under the lights our favorite moment from the Fort Lauderdale
You could feel the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end.
The Center Court, illuminated by light, was packed to the rafters. Rally after rally, point after point, the energy, noise and excitement generated by the fans in the stadium was transmitted to the players battling it out for supremacy on the sand.
It was something we have never experienced in the history of the Swatch Major Series: beach volleyball played under floodlights. And boy did we love it.
Goosebumps don’t lie. Don’t believe us? Well, just watch the videos below which we tweeted live from courtside…

The Fort Lauderdale Major was a success in so many ways but the matches under the floodlights were truly memorable moment.
The crowds came out in force to witness some epic matches. Rivalry between the US and Brazilians were reinforced. Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena’s quarterfinal victory over Olympic champions Alison/Bruno was a real ‘I was there’ moment.
Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross also found their form when the sun went down we flicked the light switches on. Their pool play win over Brazilians Barbara/Fernanda was another thriller. Having lost the first set they powered back to take the next two, winning 2-1 in 53 nailbiting minutes under the floodlights. The noise of the fans when the final, winning point was won could have been heard all over America.
They were matches to remember – and it made the Fort Lauderdale Major extra special, so that’s why those nights under the lights are our favorite moments from the Fort Lauderdale.
