Laboureur/Sude shoot into Sunday’s semis
Chantal Laboureur and Julia Sude proved there’s more to the Fort Lauderdale Major than just American and Brazilian teams by firing themselves into Sunday’s final day!
Last season’s Poreč Major gold medalists continued their superb form on the sand this week by crushing Brazilian pair Josi/Lili in straight sets as the sun shone at a packed Center Court.
The Germans took the first set 21-14 and the second 21-15 to book their place in the semifinal. They will meet the winner of tonight’s final match: Walsh Jennings/Ross against Agatha/Duda.
“We’ve played better than that already this week!” laughed Chantal. “We feel like we have been playing well but we still need to work on things.
“It’s good that we’re representing Europe but we can’t help the draw.”
In the earlier quarterfinal on Center Court, Swatch World Tour Final champions from 2015 – Larissa/Talita – cruised into the last four with a victory over fellow Brazilians Barbara/Alves.
The duo, who last claimed a Swatch Major Series gold in Gstaad, were too strong for their opponents, winning 23-21 and 21-13.
Larissa/Talita will take on the winner of the penultimate game on Center Court tonight between Americans Sweat/Ross and surprise Czech team Kolocova/Kvapilova.
