Gold will go to Brazil...
It’s an all-Brazilian affair in the men’s Fort Lauderdale Major final after the samba boys stunned the Americans on a sweltering Saturday morning’s action.
After their epic win over Alison/Bruno on Friday night, Lucena/Dalhausser could not replicate their exploits and were beaten in straight sets by young guns Evandro/Andre.
Playing in their first tournament together since teaming up before the start of the competition, the Brazilians were always in control against their American counterparts.
Lucena/Dalhausser struggled to find their rhythm and were always playing catch-up in both sets. The Americans rallied in the second set but the power of Evandro and the youthful exuberance of Andre at the net was too much for Nick and Phil.
In the second semifinal, Brazil’s Alvaro/Saymon thrashed veteran Americans John Hyden and Ryan Doherty. After taking the first set 21-16, the Brazilians restricted their opponents to just nine points in the second set.
The final will take place on Center Court at approximately 4.30pm ET. And you’ll be able to watch all the action live on our BeachStream channel.
It means the battle for bronze will be an all-American affair, which gets under way at 3.15pm ET.
