Don’t miss a thing at the #FTLMajor
The wait is almost over! There’s less than 24 hours until the Fort Lauderdale Major is open for business and the world’s best reunite on the beach for the first time in 2017.
With so much going on and planned, we thought it would be a good idea to give you a quick guide to what’s happening and when. Because we wouldn’t want you to miss a thing.
On the sand it’s the day of qualification as teams battle it out through to rounds in a bid to reach the main draw. The action kicks-off on the side courts at 9.30am. Once the sun goes down it’s time to party at the Official Kick-Off Beach Party at the Bahia Cabana at 7pm.
It’s time to get serious as the big hitters rock up at the beach as the Fort Lauderdale Major main draw gets under way. With plenty of new partnerships playing for the first time, it promises to be a real eye-opening day of action. The impressive Center Court also opens its doors, so make sure you arrive early and make a beeline for the best seats in the house. What’s more, we’ll also have our first floodlit matches in the evening. Goosebumps are guaranteed!
The Pool Play continues with the race to make it through to the elimination rounds, with the men’s round of 24 taking place in the afternoon. There’s also more night matches to get your teeth into, including Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross’ final main draw match. Plus, if that wasn’t enough, our exclusive charity event Cocktails with the Champions evening starts at 7pm. And if partying’s your thing, our College Night event at America’s Backyard starts at 11pm.
There’s a whole load of action to keep tabs on, as a busy day of beach volleyball kicks off at 10.30am and goes on late into the night as the women’s round of 16 and men’s quarterfinals take center stage on Center Court. Once the drama and excitement beachside has died down it’s time to party again: this time the Official Beach Party at America’s Backyard.
Once the weekend hits the temperature on the sand really begins to soar. Saturday has two women’s quarterfinals, including one under the floodlights. But the true highlight of the day is reserved for the men with the morning semifinals setting up the gold medal match on Center Court at 4.30pm. Right after the action has finished the Power 96 Beach Party booms into play on the Beach Village. It’s not to be missed.
And then, in flash, it’s the final day of the Fort Lauderdale Major. Sunday’s super schedule is all-women’s affair, with both semifinals on Center Court starting bright and early at 9am. The bronze medal match follows at 12.30pm before the grand finale rounds off the first tournament of the season in style at 2pm.
