In a great 3-set match this morning, Brazil’s Agatha and Barbara claimed the bronze medal by defeating Canada’s Pavan and Bansley (22-10, 14-21, 15-10)
What an exciting match to start the medal rounds of play here at South Beach Park in Fort Lauderdale. The Brazilians went into this match favored to win, but the size and skill of Pavan and Bansley proved difficult for Agatha and Barbara to handle. It took three sets and a lot of intense rallies, but the Brazilians pulled it off and claimed the medal.
Up next is the men’s bronze medal match
We will see another Brazilian team against the Netherlands in this deciding match with Evandro/Pedro taking on Brouwer/Meeuwsen. Look for some heavy swings and a lot of swag on the court as these two teams play with a lot of pride and intensity. Keep in mind that there is a $15,000 separation between capturing a bronze and ending with a 4th place finish. This is huge motivation for these incredible teams to compete with all they have left.
